He was a younger brother of Ding Feng (丁奉), who also served as a general in Wu. (The Chinese characters for ''Feng'' in their names are different.) The younger Ding Feng's highest appointment during his service was "General of the Rear" (後將軍). He died before his elder brother.〔(奉弟封，官至後將軍，先奉死。) ''Sanguozhi'' vol. 55.〕 ==In fiction== Ding Feng is briefly mentioned by name in the historical novel ''Romance of the Three Kingdoms'' by Luo Guanzhong, which romanticises the historical events before and during the Three Kingdoms period. He appeared in chapter 117 during the Conquest of Shu by Wei. When the Shu general Zhuge Zhan was under attack by Wei forces at Mianzhu Pass (綿竹關), he requested reinforcements from Eastern Wu.
